Re: Disc brake conversion
I think I posted most of the details in prior postings. i know the size of metal was given as 6X7X5/8, i started out with 7/8 but by the time I was finished on 5/8 was needed. I did not post part numbers as they are always different depending on who you by them from. I used a pair of calipers I had on the shelf for a 1993 Toyota 4Runner and the rotors are from 2002 Rodeo. I have been working on trans and transfer case and about to start on engine. Axles will be after that.

On my way to Phx for business but while there need to get 20mm wheel spacers for disc conversion.
I believe the bolt pattern is 6x5.5
I forgot.

That’s correct: 6 x 5-1/2”66AzPatrol wrote:Guys

Re: Disc brake conversion
forgot to update some pics from the assembly.

I will be getting back to brakes soon as I have chased down and repaired all my electricals. Soon I will be starting on the rear, which will be similar to what I am using on my land cruiser. I still need to determine what space I still need to run on the front. I also need to assemble the booster and caliper combo.

Re: Disc brake conversion
Got the front calipers back on and did some follow up trimming on the pads. Basically had to remove the inner part of the pads that have the scratchers on them. Installed the Warn M49 locking hubs. I have ordered a 1/2 inch spacer to see if that will provide enough clearance and still have enough threads on the stud. If not I will run the 1-1/4 inch spacers that bolt to the original studs first.

Re: Disc brake conversion
Finished up with all the clearance and fitting work and got the calipers mounted and loaded up. I had to make one shim as the caliper was dragging on the rotor.

I purchased some 1/2 spacers knowing they were too thick. As can be seen at .500 inch the lug nuts do not have adequate thread engagement.

I stacked up some washers to determine my minimum clearance necessary. At .300 inch the lugs were looking much better.

I added some additional clearance and we cut the spacers down to .350 inch.

Re: Disc brake conversion
Started with the mock up of rear disc brakes to check for clearances and alignments. Looks good!

I was able to purchase brackets for the rear disc conversion on my Land Cruiser but I have not found anything similar for the Patrol. I have Chevrolet Monte Carlo / S10 calipers running on K1500 rotors that have had the center hole and lug holes opened for proper fit and clearance. I will be using the same thing on the rear of my Patrol. I run 1.25 inch spacers on the Land Cruiser to push the wheels out a little. Spacers will not be necessary on the patrol, but I might run similar spacers as the front to keep track width similar.

At first glance you might think that the space is looking dangerous with all the threads showing in the lug nut, and I thought the same think when I put them on. But after checking I have more than 1/2 thread engagement. The nuts are super long for some reason, I have thought about switching them over to stock lug nuts so that it is not so accentuated.
