Sounds like you were missing the muffler on the maiden drive. I like it, kind of rowdy!

New project....purchased these two '66 Patrols from a guy in Texas that said he had had them for some time but was in need of cleaning out his garage and picked them up for a good deal. Purchased sight unseen and had them delivered to Oklahoma. The tan/rockcrawler has powertrain but the engine did not run and the white cleaner body was missing engine and transmission.
My goal/plan was to get the engine running and then pull it and the trans and gear box and install in the cleaner white body.
White Body: Crawler:
After new distributor, fuel pump and carb work I was able to get the engine up and running again in the crawler. However when it came time to pull and install in the white body I realized the rear gear/engine mounts have been ground off the frame and possible modified for another engine altogether? I am not versed in fabrication/welding but I am sure I can enlist the proper help if need be. My other thought was to just swap the white body onto the crawler frame....Any thoughts are greatly welcome.

Ugh.. yeah, look at that - the frame on the white one has been butchered- even the front mounts are hacked-
Looks like someone was beginning a V8 swap, when they realized what a bad idea it was and had second thoughts....
If the frame under the tan one is still structurally solid (no rust-throughs anywhere) then swapping bodies and axles should be a snap (just add time, and effort)....
