Chassis came out really good , make sure you get some kind of coating inside the chassis so it doesn't rust from the inside out

Thanks all, The chassis was sandblasted chem dipped then hot dip galvinized so no problem with rust anywhere but not
sure about paint. Spoke to guys @ POR 15 but they said it will not take to Gal so maybe etch prime & chassis black.
This will go on the beach so going over the top to prevent rust. Will probable end with a mixture of Tectyle,Lanoline & Fish oil.
So if anybody is looking for a great chassis in 50 years this will be your baby.

Etch prime first, when we paint our gal bins at work we have to etch prime otherwise the paint flakes straight off

Lucky to find one that didn't have the gearbox cross-member rusted out. Chassis looks great.

Hi all,
So believe it or not this project still going or re going with a small funds injection. Last panels getting painted now so sandblast diffs and might start
assembly in 4/5 years lol. There are some bits I know im missing like all the vent doors & mechanisms for windscreen surround & front guards so if
anybody throwing away ??

Great to see that the project is getting some love. Projects are always the first thing to get put on the back burner when life gets busy. Keep up the good work.

Damage,
The Austrian heavy equipment manufacturer I used to work for was required to HDG, prime then paint their frames to meet spec. All I remember is that Tenemec brand paint stuck the best but chipping is quite common. Our competition provided raw HDG steel, no primer no paint. The frames were for intermittently wetted applications. Sea salt introduces a higher corrosion level as you know but short of 316L SS you are doing great and the zinc thickness and coating looks excellent as well.
Now thirty years later I can go back and examine the frames and say the painted HDG look worse than RAW HDG simply because the dings becomes chips but every inch where the paint remains the frames is better off. However the raw HDG frames, many located near beaches survive as well.
I'm thinking something like Rhino Liner would be much better as it is very hard to chip. Lastly, as noted you must protect all inside or interior nooks and cracks as much as the exterior or they will rust from the inside out. I'd close all holes or tubes, if possible.
