An ute/pickup truck is such a useful tool for even just a homeowner to have, let alone having the coolest type on earth...a Patrol! But these new ones cost an arm and a legs worth and are so luxury-ized it is somewhat an oxymoron. HP works now, I assume, so just do it right when the descretionary funds are available.
Would you try to do the work yourself? Most of it? At the least it might be good therapy, exercise, temp. escape in the mancave.....I like the idea of rebuilding a KEEPER!

I can totally see the benefits in having a ute like this around the house and leaving it in its current state has some big advantages as well. If i was to resto it then I would be sheepish about loading it up as not to scratch the paint and i already have a ute like that
Either way the chassis needs attention before it can be registered so that will be a place to start. I would do all/most of the work myself but the biggest deterrent is the fact that you could easily throw 15 or $30k at a restoration on a vehicle that at the end of it all would be lucky to be worth $10,000... thats a hard pill to swallow

I would say that's pretty true as well, One day the plan Is to restore Grunty like Ferdy and his 62 and Ian and that 64. Im just trying to get grunty up to a reliable roadworthy unit at this stage.

I figure if you spend big dollars on a resto, then it should be of high standard and be done properly to last, so if its one right it should last another 40 or so years, buy then it would be worth a heck of a lot more than $10k, again its not feesable to everyone.

I was banned by River and then that was rightfully reversed last Christmas...but I was rather.....over it for a while for outing the whole story of the stolen soft top and the theifs' name and address in St. Paul, MN. I think restoring a vehicle is not necessarily about the money,but about satisfaction that is what you have to work out miller money or satisfaction.
Me it's about the satisfaction
You should take caution on how you are going to do resto/build as ideas do not translate as thought on the canvas

You were not banned for outing any story about any softtop. And, the decision to ban you was not Leslie's alone and the ban was only temporary, not permanent.

And, the decision whether or not to post the story about the soft top was Bob's decision to make (after all- it was his softtop.. )

I think there is some static here but just wanted to answer with my own words in context. .......
But back to HP....use it like a truck till you make it a new truck.....and still use it.

Ive decided HP wont get a full rebuild but a "mini makeover" if you will. Working on getting the Stallion ready for Ferdy has me enthused again.

Threw some 35's on it today ready to move into the shed.

Here's the freshen up list...

New cross member
New custom tray with canopy and swing out wheel carrier on the back
Install long range tank
Repair rust in firewall, windscreen frame and roof.
New bull bar with brush bars and rock sliders
35's
3-4" lift
