Re: New Patrol Owner - 69 Hardtop
Did you end up using a transmission from an earlier Patrol? It looks like you've got the earlier cross shaft there, or maybe removed the piece at the end. Anyway, believe it or not I have an NOS cross shaft.

Re: New Patrol Owner - 69 Hardtop
I guess anything is possible, when I bought the patrol the transmission wasn't in it I thought I was told that this was the original transmission but at the time I didn't know anything about these cars so it's possible that the transmission I was given is from an earlier manual transmission and therefore that's why I have parts for a manual or the manual transmission parts that I have are from my 2nd patrol which is a 66.
When I tore the transmission apart it had the mounts for the slave cylinder and an old slaves cylinder attached to the mount on the side of the trans but number 28 and 23 were not on there when I tore it apart, I referred back to all my old pictures when I started also.
So it looks like in the pictures you have number 23 number 28 and the original shaft?
Is number 23 two pieces or one?

Re: New Patrol Owner - 69 Hardtop
Well that's all very odd then. Wouldn't it be nice if POs documented what they did for us?
Without knowing why the mismatch in parts it's hard to know how to proceed. If it's an early transmission it might not have the right bolt holes for mounting the slave cylinder bracket. If those aren't there you can't mount the slave cylinder correctly and make everything else work right. This is the best picture I can find of a slave cylinder mounted and linkage. Your slave cylinder is not oriented like this one so we need to figure out why. Yes, I happen to have NOS #23 and #28, a complete fluke really. But let's not go there until we know if they will work for you first.

Re: New Patrol Owner - 69 Hardtop
My slave isnt the original, it was on the replacements list, I need to widen to botrom hole still on the slave for it to mount correctly, the rod is kicked up in the air in that picture on the slave bracket. I believe only the hydraulic trans had the slave cylinder bracket for the slave to mount to and for return spring to attach also?
Mine looks just like the image you posted on March 31, the spring is #16 in that image and the bracked has the holes threaded for the slave on the bracket towards the left side of the brackedtas seen in that image also.
I'll post some better photos tonight.

Re: New Patrol Owner - 69 Hardtop
Ok, these pictures explain a bit more then. The slave does look mostly correct with the lower bolt in place. The only thing about the slave that is off is that I don't see the bleeder screw, unless it's under the supply line. That will make it pretty tough to bleed the clutch when you go to do that. I think someone else had a similar problem with their slave recently.
But you still need #23 and #28 to make everything work.

Re: New Patrol Owner - 69 Hardtop
Yes, your correct, on this slave the bleeder is under the supply line, was thinking if needed I could hardline it all the way back from the master cylinder if needed for more room.
Are you willing to part with 23 and 28 and if so what would you want for them?

I wonder if the bleeder and supply line can be switched? I've got to hit the road right now, I'll PM you when I return this afternoon.

Re: New Patrol Owner - 69 Hardtop
Just purchased new NGK BPR6ES plugs, what gap are people running and what gap is best on the old waterproof distributor points?
Thanks in advance,
Jeff
