Update on Alcan spring saga - good news!
Loosened shackles and frame bolts. Went off-roading to loosen things up. Carefully retightened all bolts paying attention to interferences and possible locking up. Rear now had some bounce to it. Front still pretty stiff. Did some more off-roading and then hit highway. 55mph woo hoo! Found some residential developments with speed humps. Hit em at 30mph. Things softening up now. It’s a bit stiffer than with the stock springs but not that much- my kidneys intact and my back only slightly sore. I will report back again at say 100 miles.
Having tighter steering is definitely a great thing, feel much safer.
Steering wheel settled out and pulled wheel and recentered.
In all it’s great to have a roadable truck again - the adventure awaits crossing the Potomac at Point of Rocks to see Esteban.

Great news! It took so long for you to finally put the springs on, I am glad you didn't have to go through removing them for correction. Enjoy!

Update on Alcan Springs:
Back in the driveway again. Snow on the way. I've been driving every day 10-20 miles or so on the twisty back roads around here. Springs loosening up somewhat, and certainly the chassis is tighter, as going around corners is not quite the adventure it was. This whole responsive steering thing is amazing.
The joys of driving the stately, but sometimes slow Patrol in an affluent urban environment has its challenges. Some kid cut me off with his Dad's-funded pocket rocket sedan, almost led to an altercation. But you know, having the crank rod within easy reach behind you just gives that extra level of security!
