Welll....

it's an interesting story. I got an awesome deal on this on ebay - just $300 for a complete chassis with PTO and winch. Problem was getting out of Anthony (which is next to El Paso). I called around trying to get this thing shipped to CT for a reasonable price. Boy was I shocked. It was going to cost about $2k to have it picked up and delivered. There went my good deal. Lucky for me, Mattbob's dad lives in Las Cruces, NM and has a shop that he offered to accommodate the pile of rust. He's undertaking his own Patrol restoration of sorts in Phoenix (in between moving to a new house) and could undoubtedly use the parts at some point in the process. So, we struck a deal of sorts... We moved this chassis up to his dad's place and at some point the PTO, winch and linkage will find their way up to CT. The rest of it will stay at his dad's house and maybe find a home on his patrol project. I have to really thank Matt, and probably more importantly, his dad, for doing this. There's no way I could escape work for enough time to go down to TX and deal with this gem.

Exactly, none of us rookies can do it on our own. But it is fun with the forum's help.

I think that is a Toyota winch, of which I cannot determine vintage:

An FJ40 collector would pay dearly for it.

For years I used outside mirrors from a 70's Land Cruiser. I'm clean now!

Zed suggestion is not bad. You can get a good price for it from a Toyota owner, and use that to buy another.

The PTO is correct at least. And that's the hardest part to come by. Did you get the drive shaft also?

No driveshaft. I'll have to get one fabricated once I have the PTO and winch mounted. Will also have to cut a hole in the front crossmember to accommodate the shaft. Still, that should be relatively easy. Can't wait to get the transmission fixed up and this PTO installed. I finally found a guy in Danbury who is not only willing but also comes highly recommended to do transmissions. It's all coming together!
