Rebuilding a carburetor (especially a Hitachi VC42) requires you to be great at jigsaw puzzles... ;)

Where did you get your parts? I'm looking for a rebuild kit and a new screen that goes on the fuel inlet fitting

There are three rebuild kits for the Hitachi VC42 that I am aware of (there may be others that I am not aware of)

1) Fuel Miser part number HT409 out of Australia
2) Keyster part number K11-040H out of Canada
3) Nardek part number 70-7 out of Australia

Unfortunately, I don't know where to get ANY of them... Even the mighty google turns up blanks. :(

All 3 companies still have active websites, so maybe a call to them directly might turn up some leads?

Regarding the screen on the inlet fitting - You can probably get by without it if you use a high quality fuel filter... :handgestures-thumbup:

I went out and took a look at my Hitatchi carbs and noticed that the one is a vc42-4a. Isn't the original carb not a vc42-1? The second Hitatchi looks the same but the name plate is missing from the side

Currently there are three carb rebuild kits on ebay.com.au (Australia). I think if they are for VC42s, but not certain
