In your climate, I think 10w-40 is the heaviest you should consider, and 10w-30 should work just fine (especially if your engine generates oil pressure above 50psi when it is at operating temperature).
10w-30 will get into the bearings and build up pressure much faster than 20w-50 when you first start the cold engine.
