Look at the angle that both pictures show the engine hanging. Seems in installing or removing that mass of metal in one unit, the angle is critical for clearance. Oh and making sure your engine lift is not set too far out

This morning I planned to run down to Harbor Freight to get a heavy duty engine stand to hold up this behemoth hunk of iron; but as I walked past my pile of scrap steel, I realized I had all the tubing I needed; then I also remembered those 4 steel casters I had in a box of junk (somewhere), and the gears started turning... Why spend 130 bucks?
So out came the grinders, the cutting wheels, the welder, gloves and the safety glasses...
By lunch time I had a pretty nice rolling chassis.
Then it was time to take a break, clean up, and take the family to lunch and a movie (Big Hero 6 - great movie for the kids, and the grown ups)
After the movie, I changed back into my grubby clothes and made the carriage that bolts to the rear of the P engine block
And then it was time to slide it all together and see how it worked- looks good, holds the engine perfectly, easy to roll around, and the engine can be rotated 360 degrees... Not too shabby for free (minus 6 hours, 3 cutoff wheels, and several feet of welding wire)

I have been wanting for a while to build a few stands. To hold the engine and another to hold the trans/t-case when I am working on them. I don't really like engine stands as they can be very tippy. Got my very nice SD33T mounted to one and a guy could push it over very easily. I was thinking of build karts for these items more than stands. Could be made in a way that transport, like to the machine shop would be very easy and safe too.
I built a frame cart kind of like this that works very well. Holds the frame while I work on it and has caster wheels so I can move it around no probs. It is also height adjustable and I can actually flip a frame over by myself on it.
