60Patrol

I have to bypass Pancho on this one, since my adapter is basically the same, but the one Pancho has is his first prototype. He further did a couple of adapters in aluminum, and one of them is installed in my Patrol.

I have to praise Pancho for his inventive and the dedication put into fabricating this adapters. Although the picture that follows shows a clean base, it has internal passages that allow the correct flow for the spin-on filter

This is my design, that was used for more than 20 years in a 3 Patrols. One from my brother, the one that I've always had, and another long gone. The problem with this design is that the flow passage inside the adapter is limited, and can make the safety valve inside the base to actuate constantly, effectively bypassing the filter. But I think it's good to show, since after this one, Pancho's design looks like a fine example of Italian engineering (way better than German )

Yes, was very nice to spend some time thinking about how to convert the flow and then designing it. Basically it has some internal passages which allows the flow to go in and out at the sametime. Once i had the idea i took measurements on the original filter base and a cartidge which had an external diameter quite smaller than the base. Then was time to do a 3D prototype using mechanical design software and as result drawings ready for the shop.

The first fabricated coverter was done using duralon a polymer material which main characteristec is its high resistance under compression stresses but doesn't look as well as aluminum. After that came the testing stage and everything was ok. So, since that moment my Patrol is using the converter and a regular cartidge filter, in fact is not necesary to remove the converter anymore although it is possible because of the threads it has.

The two aluminium converters are better and look better than the original prototype and were built specially for Esteban and Fernando.
