Finally got my Patrol back! The guy that I paid to move it for me, moved it, but not to my new place. And he disappeared. Wouldn't answer calls, then his number stopped working. It was completely missing for over 2 years. I was heartbroken. I got a VW beetle as a project to fill my empty garage, but always kept an eye out for my patrol.
I happened to get a lead from a friend who spotted a patrol in a farmer's boneyard/junk yard off the side of the highway and sent me a picture. When I saw it, it looked more familiar than just recognizing it as a patrol. It was mine, with the star conchos I used to fill the holes where my fender badge was missing. My heart was racing. Long story short, no one there knew exactly where it came from, but were happy to let me get it off their property. (Slightly irked as my plates, registration, etc. we're all still in the car. Could have ID'd the owner really easily).
It's been badly beaten by the sun and Idaho desert, all the work I put into the body and upholstery is pretty much ruined, the choke cable is snapped, fuel pump doesn't want to pump, wiring is all chewed up by mice, but it's home now. Tucked into the garage. Im a little sick as I'm back to square one, but happy to have it back.
Since its back, I had to come check back in myself!

The perfect homecoming story. First it's ripped away from you only to find it's way home years later. That's been the storyline for countless movies! Too bad it's been roughed up though.
I'm really glad you got it back! -- I'm looking forward to hearing more about it.
