You should be able to find an automotive shop that can make a new line for you. I would suggest re-using the old fittings. They are standard FYI.

That does sound like the easiest and most accurate thing to do, I'll see what I can find. Thanks!RiverPatrol wrote:You should be able to find an automotive shop that can make a new line for you. I would suggest re-using the old fittings. They are standard FYI.
Thanks for the offer, but I should be able to find something local around here. I kind of would like it before Thursday this week when I plan on going out to visit the Patrol again, and hopefully finish the brakes once and for all. All I have left is this line, and then to bleed them. Hopefully that's all that's left2869ral wrote:I might have an xtra on one of my parts Patrols if you decide you need it.
We have a NAPA not too far away so I'll give them a try, hopefully they will have more knowledge than the guys I found at the other two places I visited todaybosque wrote:Yeah, if they are not sure dont let them touch it. You should find a Napa or some other shop. Take in the old section, they should be able to refab that over the counter.
Well I had some success this weekend, but the brakes still don't work overall. Nobody really wanted to make a brake line for me because they said it was so small, and there bending tools wouldn't make such small bends, so I just bought a couple 8" 3/16ths standard flare (which I found out from a brake shop is actually what they call double flare on the package) and decided to bend them myself. I bought a couple since they were only $2.50 each in case I screwed up the first one. Here is my result: The fitting seems to work fine, so I think it's OK.2869ral wrote:That should be standard 5/16 double flare. Double flare is for brake line application, single flare is for fuel line application. I have never heard of a bubble flare, I think they are referring to the single flare.
OH, yes, that could very well be. When I removed the brakes to replace the cylinders I adjusted the shoes to the max looseness to help get the drum off. Now that I think about it I didn't adjust them back again, so I bet you are right!2869ral wrote:Sorry about the typo, i thought I typed 3/16. The pedal going to the floor on the first try sounds like your brake shoes need adjusted. If they are a long ways from contacting the drums it will take two pumps of the pedal to get the shoes to move far enough to contact the drums. Try adjusting the shoes to where they just make contact with the drums, i would bet this solves your problem.
