Really old stuff that got saved. Here are the old Nissan Patrol Club America messages from the 'General' category. Warning, it's dusty in here!

>>pheonix huh!!! have any extra parts. i have some just depends on what >>you needNah, I have zero extra parts. I just got mine about 6 weeks ago. Fortunately it's in awesome original shape, and needs very little. I would like to find a set of side steps and hubcaps though.Ryan NewmanPhoenix, AZ67' Patrol71' 51085' Elite 8098' Frontier-- No virus found in this outgoing message.Checked by AVG Free Edition.Version: 7.1.405 / Virus Database: 268.12.4/449 - Release Date: 9/15/2006

1969 Clutch Slave Cylinder

I wouldn't recommend lowering the idle, especially if you plan on doing an serious wheeling. The lower idle causes stalling at very inopportune moments when at steep angles. Besides, it's not going to help between shifts when you're cruising.   Grinding can be pretty normal. I have one that doesn't grind at all, except going into 1st if I try too fast. Another one that I have to double clutch or else it will grind everythime. Another one grinds just when it gets hot. Another one that sometimes will and sometimes won't.   The only clutch adjustment that any of the manuals mention is for pedal height, which is just going to help the free-play. Since there is a threaded rod down at the clutch arm, I'm sure there is some kind of adjust ment there, but I haven't figured it out yet.   Could also be a frozen pilot bushing. I dread the thought of pulling the trans/transfer to find out. But, schluderm on Ebay sells the pilot bushing if you want to try that.

Thanks for all the input.  I bought a new slave cylinder on e-bay but haven't put it in yet.  Those of you describing all the "normal" grinding were describing exactly what I am experiencing. Going into second before pulling into low or reverse really does make a difference.
