Well, I am a CPA currently waist deep in tax return preparation. This year the federal government has made it extremely hard on people to compute their actual tax liabilities. Next year, under Obama Care (Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)) it will be equally difficult for individuals and more stressful for businesses.

Ughhh, God bless you because while I love numbers, I hate when they are proceeded by $$$. My sister does taxes for a living and she is basically untouchable from Jan 1 through April 15.

I work for a school district as a computer tech and energy manager. Been about 8 years and I enjoy working for the public school system. I work all year around which is fine. Summer break affords me shorts, ballcaps and t-shirts. They still provide us with great health care and a decent retirement.

I sure don't envy CPAs right now. I am arithmaphobic myself so I always had a CPA do my taxes. Luckily this year I don't have to itemize and it's a no-brainer so I can do it myself.

I was a technical analyst/consultant for a software company, got tired of the travel so moved into technical support and system administration. Travel can be interesting on occasion, but when the motel staff know you on a first name basis you've been there too many times. Being a Platinum or Diamond member meant you were a member of the 'I-don't-have-a-life' club. Then, one weekend I was out hiking in the great outdoors and got bit by a tick. That tick carried several debilitating diseases; lyme disease et al, and changed my life. Now I am 'retired' on disability, and I occasionally build a forum or teach a class or two.

I work at a Department of Energy site in my area that has been in the media recently and has been called the nation's worst nuclear nightmare. It is the most contaminated site where more nuclear waste has been spilled and needs to be cleaned up. I am a Nuclear Health Physicist working for a contractor to the DOE. And yes, when the media talks about leaking underground storage tanks, yes I deal with them and their waste.... not hands on anymore ...now I am a paperwork pusher to ensure that the work is performed safely without spreading anymore waste... Been in this business since Jan 1985... oh man.... that means I've been working in this profession for 28 years... oh and yes I am on furlough right now and next week because of the budget mess and sequestration... just worked out that my planned vacation time to move fit in with the furlough policy for my company...... Past jobs that I have worked at .... Worked on a cattle ranch in Montana, Logged (set chokers behind a skidder) for a short time in Washington, built houses for a summer, worked in Alaska in a fish freezing plant for a summer job, Worked as an assistant manager for a Domino's pizza store during college, worked at a christmas tree farm in high school....

My recently discovered Uncle worked there as an electrician for many years.

I am an Electrical Engineer at an open pit copper mine. I started here in 2000 as a Haul Truck Driver then after the de-regulation of the electrical supply and the Enron fiasco, electricity prices went through the roof and I was laid off. I took that opportunity to go back to school and get my engineering degree, then after a year at a consulting firm I was hired back at the mine after it was reopened in 2003. I am very fortunate to work in a place that I love and for a company that allows me to be involved in every facet of the operation. I do new design, repair of 1960's technology, IT, RF, and everything in-between. I cannot think of another job where I could have gained so much experience not only in my field but many others.

Safety professional/consultant -- stumbled into it many years ago. Lots of fun and OSHA is sure to provide lots of rules and regulations to keep me busy! One would think I should be all Mr. Rules, Regulations and Vehicle Airbags, but... Patrols don't have airbags, do they?
