Eleiminating water proof distributor

I'm sure there is a thread for this, but are there other interchangeable parts to convert to electronic ignition, and remove the water proof distributor?

I just posted some info under Electronic Ignition, search Parts. You can get a kit for the W/P or the nonW/P. There are other sourses but I have bought this for my 67 W/P dizzy.

In other words, Pertronix makes a electronic ignition kit for the water protect distributor. If you want to get rid of the water protect distributor the distributor for the fork lift P40 engine reportedly works.

How do you know if you have a waterproof dizzy, fairly sure mine isn't just from going through big puddles.

One easy way is that the 7 plug and coil wires screw on to the distributor cap which has 3 little screws attaching the cap to the dist.

....and the non-WP has three clips instead of screws for the cap.

If you have the water proof dizzy and you're still getting water into the inside, then the o-ring is shot or gone. To make it water proof there is an o-ring that sits in the top lip of the distributor housing.
