The Weber that I have is a 32/36 DGV 5A(manual choke). I don't know much about the clifford adapter because I took the whole set-up off another Patrol, linkage and all. Ian has done this conversion also, but I think he used a 32/35. I 'm not sure though.

YES...I have used the Weber. It is on a 64 Patrol that now lives in the bay area. I used the Clifford adaptor. It works great! You don't need the linkage kit or the fuel regulator though. The linkage is very simple to modify too. There is no clearance probs with the hood. The choke is eletric and the carb is a 2 barrel. It is expensive but works really well. My P-troll used to starve for fuel on steep hills with the Rochesters. No fuel probs at all after the Weber and a new mechanical fuel pump. Truck ran better than any other P-troll I have owned...well, except that red 66 I used to own. Which was stock, 40k miles and has the Hitachi carb.

Thanks to all of you for the help. Located Clifford Performance turns out they live in my back yard and have arranged for an adapter as well as a 32/38 Weber with electric choke. Turns out Weber is on strike and am getting one of the last in stock items for now.

subject:  rochester carb(s)   Two different  model B carbs were fitted to 1966-67 and 1968-69 patrols. The biggest differences are throttle body ID and venturi neck down size. I have managed to improve (but not perfect) low speed/part throttle performance by mixing and matching parts from the two carbs [large throttle body, small venturi, and airhorn from 67], additional monkeying with main jet, powervalve spring, blocking air bleeds in air horn, enlarging accelerator nozzle, etc. Yea, I've had the dern thing apart no fewer than 700 times.   One other buggaboo is  carb is mounted backwards, that is main jet is mounted low and forward in fuel bowl.  This explains coments found in period reviews and on this website to the effect patrol will back up hills it won't tackle going forward.  The strange thing  is that  on period (1958-65) chevy sixes it is also mounted backwards. One last note, chevy and patrol engines are mirror images of each other  so that with small throttle angles fuel and air mixture is deflected towards the engine side of intake manifold on p-engine, I don't know if this makes any difference in low end grunt, but my next experiment will be to flip carb around.   If I had my druthers I'd switch to 1960-65 Hitachi.                                           good luck  edcook

Hey Ed! You finally found the Internet! I've often wished we could have your input on what you have accomplished on these beasties. I know you have spent many hours experimenting to get things to work just right. And you have an entirely fresh view on how to go about a procedure, as evidenced from the above post.   So how did you ever come out with the measurements and shims for your original hubs?   I know what you mean about the Rochester carbs. I now have 2 trucks with the Rochester carbs, and while I can still get them rebuilt, they don't run as nice as the 2 trucks with the Hitachi carbs. Sorry I couldn't part with the Hitachi carb for you, but I already kind of knew this. I still don't have that truck here - it's still in PA. And I will probably have to search long and hard to find a carb kit for the Hitachi - after I get the acorns out of it!   If you haven't found it yet, http://www.rmp-o.com/ has some good info, too.   Good to see you on the board. I'm sure you will have a lot to offer here.
