1980 LG61 Ignition Question
I am in Cali, Colombia. I have a 1980 LG61 (engine # P502957 Frame #G6101473) I have an ignition problem. First I am pretty sure I have a burned exhaust valve and will be pulling the head over the Christmas Break. Black smoke (blue too) loss of power. Horrible decline in mileage. In the meantime I had one of the mechanics at the school where I work replace the plugs points, cables, etc. this week. Result was another decrease in power. The firing order now is set to 1-4-2-5-3-6 I read in another post that the firing order fo a 69 (remember, mine is an 80) is 1-5-3-6-2-4. On a whim I rearranged the cables but could not get an engine start. (I did not mess with the timing...yet) So, can anyone help me with the correct firing order? I could also use a manual for this car (have been unable to score one to date) and am glad to pay whatever. Thanks for the help! Oh yeah! I am cross posting this to the engine board.

1980 LG61 Ignition Question
You can get an electronic ignition kit for you LG61. It is very simple to fit and not out of hand money wise. Your motor is a P40 not the earlier P engine. Production series is 5th generation. P5xxxx tells me this. Ealry 1960 Patrols are P1xxx and thus a 1st generation P engine. By the 4th gen aka P4xxx Nissan started calling it the P40 not the P engine. Sorry I don't know firing order off top of my head. Walk into a Nissan dealer in Cali or phone one in Bogota and you will get the right firing order from them. They have all the parts books and I believe they also have service manuals. Unlike the USA you have had Patrol in south america for near 50 years or more! So unlike the USA your Nissan dealers should have the info you need and much more. There is a fair share of Colombian Patrol owners on this site so I am sure you can get the help you need. Try posting the same message as this but in spanish. Not all Colombians speak english!

From: "arcticteach" >Reply-To: "Nissan Patrol Club Albuquerque" >To: "Nissan Patrol Club Albuquerque" >Subject: 1980 LG61 Ignition Question >Date: Wed, 8 Dec 2004 08:23:28 -0800 > Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! 1980 LG61 Ignition Question

Sorry Patrolfever I deleted one of your messages from another post. I don't recall a v6 conversion but they say anything can be done if you want to bad enough. Keith
