Electronic ignition kits and more

I have had for awhile now a kit that converts stock distributor to electronic ignition. Yet, I was only sure it would fit the stock Hitachi non-water protect distributor, most of you in the USA have the water protect distro. The main difference in the two distro is in the cap, the non-WP clips on while the WP distro has a cap that screws on. Well any ways, I checked last night and the kit I have will fit the water protect distro with no problems. I am 99% sure it will work on the WP distro and 110% sure it will fit the non-WP. Both these distros are Hitachi and stock, unless your truck has been modified to use a different distro you have one of these two. The kit(s) are of high quality, fairly cheap and will make you Patrol run great...points will be gone forever! If looking to go with an electronic conversion look no further, there is no need to modify the shaft or use a distro from a Ford or Chevy. The kits run $90 plus shipping and I only have one in stock at this time that already may be sold. I can and will be ordering more though. Email me off the list for detailed pictures of this kit. I should also mention that the non-water protect Hitachi is available in complete assembly at a reasonable price. It works well, bolts right on and is stock but new equiptment. It can easily be made as water proof as any other distro by simply putting a bead of silicone on the cap and unless you submerge it you won't even need to do that. I am also working on a header that bolts right onto the stock P engine. I have seen the header in action and drove a Patrol fitted with one. It gives a real nice power band, increase horse power and sounds killer! Look for headers to be available from me in the future....visit my website at www.rmp-o.com for more Patrol stuff.

Exhaust headers... Lukey in Australia Still make them, still in their catalogue, for the P40 engine. The code number is MG57. There are also extractors for an MQ with a P40 engine and they are a different fit to the G60 so when ordering you must specify G60. $5000 is plenty to get you into a Patrol project. Seeing as you are 15 that is a lot of cash to be able to spend on one of these trucks. If you want to work on it and do the resto yourself than for $2000 you can get a rock solid truck and have lot's left over to invest in the parts and tools for the project. Pat in SF has a very nice 69 he is thinking of selling and it will make aprefect resto project. Just do lot's of research and ask lot's of questions before you buy. That way you will know what you are getting into, know what to look for when buying and won't be disappointed in the end. Patrols are not Jeeps, TLC's, Zooks or Scouts. Don't expect a truck like these that simply looks cooler. While similar in design it is a whole different deal when it comes to parts and aftermarket items. Plus you won't own something every body else does....and that may be a downfall of the trucks to some people.

You can try him at www.rmp-o.com , but the electronic ignition kit doesn't fit the waterproof distributor. Keep an eye on eBay for parts books.

The Crane XR700 kit looks like it should work. I had one designated for a Patrol but ended up putting it on a TLC. It looks like it should work on a Patrol. With a little luck, time and $$$ there should be a true Patrol kit available from Pertronics for the water proof distributor in the not too distant future.
