Ive noticed that many have installed CD Players and such in their Patrols. Ive built a little box to mount it under the dash and everything, but I just cant decide the best way to wire it up. I tried wiring the + wire to the output stud on the alt, but I got alot of what they would call alternator noise. the ACC wire is wired up on a toggle switch. So, how did yall wire yours up? Do I need one of those things wired inline, I think its called a condenser? Help would be much appreciated...

Why didn't you just hook the positive straight to the battery. It shouldn't make any noise._________________________________________________________________Don’t just search. Find. Check out the new MSN Search! http://search.msn.click-url.com/go/onm0 ... direct/01/

Why didn't I? Because, I was unsure. Seemed to me like if there is alternator noise in a wire in the dash(which the other end is tied to the alternator), there would be in the battery too. Of course, this is a theory, and theorys are meant to be disproved. This is why I asked. I know there are many out there that are far more knowledgable of auto electrical systems than I. So, I guess Im going to try to hook it up to the battery. Thanks!

When there isn't a harness for a radio I just straigt wire the positive to the battery. No noise because it is grounded so well. I don't believe the altenator has a ground so that would cause the noise. The toggle switch isn't a bad idea either with out having an accesory switch in the ignition.>From: "4x4xJonx4x4" >Reply-To: "Nissan Patrol Club Albuquerque" >>To: "Nissan Patrol Club Albuquerque" >>Subject: Re: Stereo Wiring>Date: Wed, 12 Jan 2005 09:57:42 -0800>_________________________________________________________________FREE pop-up blocking with the new MSN Toolbar – get it now! http://toolbar.msn.click-url.com/go/onm ... direct/01/

I might add... if somebody finds this topic at a later date, and reads it, dont run a hard wire directly to the battery without an inline fuse. Our Patrols are all steel, so there is tons of places for a wire to short out... I found this out the hard way. I could have lost my Patrol, or even my life. And that is definitely not in an order of importance...Also kinda makes you realize how handy a fire extinguisher could be if you intend to use your Patrol for something other than restoring to showroom quality.
