Thank you to everyone helping me with my current brake overhaul.
So, my best friend 67 Patrol gifted me his Patrol He rebuild the brakes 13 years ago, but really has not driven many miles. He also lives on the Ocean. so, I know that he has all new cylinders, but many of them of leaking, probably due to lack of driving. Thus, I'm going to overhaul the cylinders.
My problem is that I cannot detach the Bridge tube either from the Brake hose connector or where it attaches to the wheel cylinder. I've tried heating it, lubricating it, tapping it with a hammer, lubricating it, heating it, etc.
I noticed in the manual that the wheel cylinder "can be rebuilt" while still within the front brake after removing the brake drum. My goal is to take off the shoes, clean the entire brake area.
Has anyone encountered this? I've watched plenty of videos about how to remove frozen nuts, but, oh boy, this is totally challenging. should I just forgo the rusted 3/8 brake nuts? I've noticed as well that the 3/8 flair wrench wont fit on the nut, and a 7/16 is just too loose. I have clamped vice-grips onto the nut (I know, the the first option to do) and even with that situation I can't get the nuts unstuck.
