Temperature Sending Unit
I've got an original temp gauge in my 67 but a faulty temperature sending unit. Anyone have and idea on where to find a replacement or compatible part? To adapt the original gauge to work with a known sending unit is extremely expensive and I don't want to have to mount a basic one under the dash. Appreciate any input on this!

Re: Temperature Sending Unit
There was a thread here about temp senders, might be more if you search: https://www.60patrol.com/forum/viewtopi ... der#p52891
There is this one on eBay that might be compatible: https://www.ebay.com/itm/303892227252

Re: Temperature Sending Unit
Greetings,
I have bought every known type of after market temperature sending unit. The Patrol requires a long sensor, approximately 1" long, maybe longer. The after market sensors are too short. However, I have a very resourceful mechanic and I'll ask him how he got the one of Flagstaff Patrol to work.
More to follow,

Re: Temperature Sending Unit
Greetings, I checked with Eddie the Eagle. He robbed the sensor for Phoenix Patrol. This weekend I found another full length one in my spare parts shelves but I doubt it works. We will put it into Phoenix Patrol. In my experience the oversized brass radiators, if re-cored, fully protect the motor. Nobody runs the vehicles harder than I do and the sensor in my 65 red patrol has never worked and It has run all day in 100 degrees F at 5-10 MPH without overheating.
Remember, the Patrol is a military vehicle. It is built to carry six people and pull a cannon through mountain and deserts.
My only fails in the field have been:
- snapped rear axles from overloading (Patrol can only hold 800 pounds)
- burned out starter coil (if the motor dies, not leave the key on, it burns out the coil quickly

Re: Temperature Sending Unit
Sounds like your Patrols have been remarkably reliable for you, even under hard use. That's fantastic!

Re: Temperature Sending Unit
RiverPatrol,
If they fail, I go over the cliff. It is that simple. So I have come to rely on their motors, brakes and suspension like oxygen.
Flagstaff Patrol gets field tested Feb 6-8 on the mud, mountain climbs and creeks of the Kokernot 06 Ranch. Hopefully it passed and we have not recoveries of any kind.

Re: Temperature Sending Unit
RiverPatrol,
We will try. I could make it a three Patrol Patrol but Eddie says he is fully committed just getting Flagstaff Patrol finished. Pumpkin could make it but I'm short drivers suitable for the terrain and Patrol. Some places on those canyon switchbacks requires perfection between Patrol and driver or bad things come quickly.
