Ooooh I'm so glad to hear you dipped it. That is the only way due to the edge effect on flame spraying. Now you have a great universal coat on the frame. Yes, with the right zinc fat primer and Tnemec paint you are ready for the bush. I do hope you will paint it as scratches will quickly rust without the added protection. Well., what can I say...I don't even paint the sheet metal. Why waste all that good paint on a rock or tree?

Yes, I can surely get to the right mix. I'll try now but I'll be travelling the next 2-3 weeks out of the country so if I'll respond as soon as possible.

Greetings, I thought I responded to this months ago. Sorry for the dropped ball. Yes, I did check into it and company I used to work for phased out the primer + paint approach about twenty years ago and paint booth people come and go so I could not find anyone with first hand knowledge.

I would start with Tnemec Series 115 primer. At a minimum the Tnemec website help desk can help you further if needed.

Not much progress but starting to get motivated as temps in New England are rising and creating workable garage days.

Pondering if I want to do a fully respray, or keep the patina with some repaired spots blended in to match the patina.

The truck had some pinkish film on it on one side. Cleaned that off the front fender last night just to see what was underneath.

Mixing work and play. I work in the video surveillance space. Received a new 360 camera in from the office and had to install it in the garage!

Patina is always a tough call. I like either - patina and shiny fresh paint.
