Re: Hitachi VC42-4A Carburetor Rebuild

Post by r1lark »

Have not been doing much of anything on the carb; been in the throes of assembling an engine for one of my Studebakers.

But I have ordered some 9mm OD x 1.5mm wall Borosilicate glass tubes off Amazon. These are slightly larger in OD than the original Hitachi glass tube, but in measuring the holes that the tube fits into, it should work, and the Fluorosilicone sealing washers I already have should work also. The next 'biggie' will be cutting to length and getting the ends square and smooth. The only way to buy it was to buy a quantity of 10 300mm tubes, so there is plenty to practice on!

I hate it when my screwups cause me delays and extra cost. :handgestures-thumbdown:

Esteban, the Jet diameter number is indeed a #135. And thank you for the kind words on this thread. But if the carb doesn't work right when I get it all back together, I'll have to rename it to 'How NOT to Rebuild a Hitachi VC42-4A Carburetor'. :D
