Paul, I likely know less than you, all I can report is that yes it was made out of metal. Maybe they print drawing from the donor them make it….. but make it they did. I wish I knew more, I can call the mechanic that had it made of it would help.

Paul, was there an eventual winner in the vacuum advance rebuild options from the folks you contacted? I never saw if this was completed.

Greetings,

May I suggest that BEFORE you spend hundreds on shipping costs and months in delays with these companies I'd suggest calling Eddie Brown. He has rebuilt the following components for me, fuel pumps, rochester and VZ carbs, wheel cylinders, master brake cylinder new (Wilwood) and OEM, door mechanisms distributors and electronic upgrades, axle bearings wiring harness, Justin's disk brake upgrade etc. He hasn't rebuilt a water pump for me but I haven't asked either.

Few mechanics have rebuilt more Patrols than Eddie in the last five years. He knows how they think. 210-216-1304 or elbo1092@gmail.com. He is the closest think we have to a Nissan Army knife. He isn't fast but he is much faster than the shops we used in the past.

Rolling and Patrolling,

Well...........I decided to wait until I got the engine running before pulling the vacuum advance off and sending it for rebuild. Then I got into a full brake rebuild, shocks, sway bar bushings, etc and more or less forgot about the vacuum advance!

Here is the info I got back from the three vendors/rebuilders contacted (but I caution you that this info is almost 3 years old). Note that the information and pictures I sent them was for the Patrol waterproof distributor, Hitachi D608 02:

Advance Diaphragm Options, CALOUNDRA WEST QLD Australia, Mike Bushnell; www.advancediaphragmoptions.com: Yes we can fix that for you.$85aus is the cost to repair. Plus freight each way. I don't have one like that in the shop so you will need to send it to us.

Terrill Machine, DeLeon Texas USA, email: terrillmachine@yahoo.com We can rebuild your vacuum advance for $100 + shipping. We are currently about 9 weeks behind. THANKS, Feltz Terrill, 1000 County Road 454 DeLeon Texas 76444 Ph. 254 893 2610 Monday- Thursday 8AM to 6 pm central standard time.

Special Interest Autos, 8 Kimberly Ln., Rockwall, TX 75087, jim@special-interest-autos.com Yes, it looks like this should fit in the tooling I have. For this rebuild, it would be $95.00, plus the return shipping costs. I would contact you when the work is complete to get your payment info - any major credit card. If you have any questions, let me know by email or phone 972-722-4079. If you do send, it let me know and I'll be on the lookout for it to arrive.
Paul
