Thank you for the offer David. However, I sure don't want anyone to make a complete carb unusable by pulling out the sight glass. Now if someone has an unusable carb, either something about it keeps it from being rebuilt, or if parts have already been taken off it, that's a different animal. If I have to, I'll machine an aluminum or brass piece on the lathe and just won't have a sight glass. Am looking also at Borosilicate Glass (ie, Pyrex) tubes, cutting one to length and dressing the ends square and flat. However, the tube in the VC42 is an odd outside diameter and have not located a close match yet.
