1967 Nissan Patrol G60
Hey Y'all!
I am a fairly new member to this forum, but have been following it for years!
I am about half way through the restoration of my '67 Patrol and can use all of the insight I can find as I piece it back together. This patrol has about 70k original miles on it, but sat in a barn in California for about 40 years.
Questions:
-Any recommendation on what to do with my water pump? The original water pump appears to be operating properly but looks to be on its last leg. Is there a repair kit available to restore the original pump or is it better to just replace it with the after market pump? I would really like to keep it as original as possible and like the origal metal fan opposed to the aftermarket plastic one.
-Brakes: I am switching out the factory 1 phase brake master cylinder for a 2 phase cylinder. Finding the correct cylinder has been easy, but I could use some guidance on replacing the adapters that are bolted on throughout the frame/chassis.
-Front/Rear Bumper: Both both bumpers are in need of replacement. Are there any online that are close to the originals? Did anyone have them fabricated?
-Steering: Seeming to be more and more of a pipedream; has anyone successfully converted their G60 to power steering? So far it is starting to look like a money pit.
-Hardware: I am replacing about 80% of the metric hardware throughout the vehicle. At the moment, I measure every bolt/nut/screw manually and its a time suck. Any solutions to making that process easier? Maybe listed online?
Apologies for the long winded post. Thanks!

Re: 1967 Nissan Patrol G60
Welcome to 60Patrol!
Thanks for finally taking the plunge and posting your Patrol on the forum.
It looks like a very worthy project. Don't hesitate to ask any questions, someone usually has an answer.
On the water pump, there is not an aftermarket pump that works as far as I know, unless something has been discovered elsewhere. Folks here usually send their water pump out to have the original one rebuilt. Here's a post with the contact info for that: viewtopic.php?p=51649&hilit=water+pump#p51649
You can do a search here for Wilwood adapter and find some info on the master cylinder adapter people have made or used.
Bumpers - you should be able to find someone that can straighten what you have.
Any power steering adaptation is purely custom, design your own. Most people find that usually power steering isn't even needed once you start driving it. About the only time you might wish for it is doing some extreme off road maneuvers.
99% of the hardware on the US Patrol is SAE standard, not metric. They didn't change to metric until sometime in the mid 70's. I don't recall ever seeing a complete list.
Good luck on the progress, keep us posted.

Re: 1967 Nissan Patrol G60
Thanks for the warm welcome!
Some updates:
-Sent my water pump out to get rebuilt. Thanks for the recommendation.
-Was able to find all of the brake components that was needing to be replaced. Finishing up all of the piping today
-Frame: New leafspring bushings, sanded and coated
-Rear Axle: sanded, coated, new brake cylinders, new brake junction box, new differential cover gasket and fluid, new shock absorbers, and swaybar bushings
-Fuel Tank: Acid dipped and coated
-Front Axle: Sanded, coated, new brake cylinder, new brake springs, diff gasket and fluid, all new bushings and hardware + grease fittings
Basically just waiting for the front shackle bolts to finish up the frame and suspension.
I am stuck on one part that I need to replace as I damaged the original ones during removal due to rust. Does anyone have any recommendations on replacing the front tension bars? Is there a way to replace the rubber bumper that the bar is threaded through? I have them measured at 14in but can't seem to find anything online that matches while also being grade 8 or above steel.
Looking ahead, next week ill be working primarily on the engine and transmission:
-Does anyone know what the paint code is for the original colors of the engine block?
-For the clutch, do you recommend that I have the original rebuilt, or is there a direct replacement?
-Has anyone converted to fuel injection instead of the current oil bath set up?
-Need to start thinking about the exhaust. Has anyone customized their exhaust piping? Not a big fan of the original set up

Re: 1967 Nissan Patrol G60
I have a code that was made off of a piece of my original motor. It was pretty much a perfect match. I can send you the sticker with the code if you like. The stock code will not get you anywhere if I remember correctly.-Does anyone know what the paint code is for the original colors of the engine block?

Clutch, you can go either route. There is a replacement that some have used. Search this forum and you will find it some where here. It may be in the compatible parts list as well.
Fuel injection, one person has put a Holley TBI on theirs. It seemed pretty straight forward, again search it and you should find it.
Exhaust, most people stick with the side pipe as it seems to help with keeping the fumes out of the cabin, but you can always go your own route.
Hope this helps from a fellow Texan.

Re: 1967 Nissan Patrol G60
In addition to jwgreen comments, I have the following:
Regarding the front tension bars, I think you're referring to #32 in the picture below, and the rubber bumper #33. The tension bar will be easy to replicate, and since it's only a limiter bar, no need to go with grade 8. In fact, some people that have modified to more increased suspension travel and articulation, didn't install it. The rubber will be the issue.

For the engine color, the place where I got it in a rattle can years ago, doesn't have it in stock.

A search for Datsun engine paint, took me here. Looks like a good choice, since al Datsuns and the Patrol had the same color:

Please take a look first at the following thread regarding the Ford clutch disk for some comments regarding an alternative clutch disk:

Re: 1967 Nissan Patrol G60
Hey Y'all!
Some updates attached.
Next set of problems:
- The metal channel that connects the fender vent to the cab on both sides was completely rusted through. Need to start thinking about what to do with that space
-I need to have a new windshield cut. After combing through the forum a few times, I cannot seem to locate the exact cutting info to place the order. Any ideas?
-Does anyone know what dimension the heater ducting tubes that connect in the dash are?
-Aftermarket wiring harness on its way. Does anyone have any pictures or tips/tricks for this process or is it pretty straight forward?
-Where can I find a new air filter for the heater unit mounted on the engine firewall?
Lastly, I was able to replace the thermostat but had no luck with the temp sender. Anyone point me in the right direction?
Appreciate It!

Re: 1967 Nissan Patrol G60
Looks like some good progress. Good job.
There aren't any templates or measurements for the windshield. Usually a competent glass company can cut a new windshield after taking measurements from the frame.
Here is some info on heater/defroster ducting: https://www.60patrol.com/forum/viewtopi ... ion#p52914
Here are a variety of wiring diagrams: https://www.60patrol.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1671
Not sure what you're referring to as the air filter for the heater. There is no such animal.
Here is some chatter on temp senders: https://www.60patrol.com/forum/viewtopi ... der#p52891
Keep up the good work!

Please refer to the following thread for dimensions of the windshield. I prepared this by measuring an existing one.
