That is an interesting G60. You stated that it is typical for your Patrols down there to have two fuel tanks. Which leads me to the following questions...............

Hi L60Boerne

I think only 'serious' Patrollers of the era fitted a second tanks. Back in the 60's and 70's Australian bush was much tougher than it is these days.

A second tank can be fitted under the body in the space in the chassis after the doors. There is a fair amount of room there. My Ute/tray has its factory tank installed there on the left hand side and I'm sure it could be twice as big. You just need to be clear of the exhaust pipe.

Our tanks are a bit bigger in size to the US tanks. 65 Lts (17 gals).
Not sure if I will get there.
Not sure if I will get back.
But I usually do!!!

Up for sale if any one wants to offer. We have got it up and running starts drives. Drives good doesn’t run on petrol due to carby needing a clean but does run on gas but tank is out of date. And petrol tank would need a clean. Brakes need attention due not working. Apart from that she is a good old jigga. No stupid offers or time wasters please want it to go to a good home. Also has minimal rust.
