So, the white/red generator 'A' wire from the factory harness goes to the red terminal 2 wire on the alternator's 2 wire plug,
How / why is this different than running a short 6 inch wire from the #2 post on the alternator to the hot post that has the 10 gauge wire on it?
I have a '76 L60 from Columbia, so I will have to check for the white / red generator "A" wire. Possibly I might not have it since I never had a generator. Where does it route to? I am wiring a new 17SI alternator now. The service technical support guy I talked to on the phone said #1 was ignition source and #2 was a short wire to the hot terminal on the alternator itself.
