Well, I hope everybody out there is doing good. I am having a great time with my new patrol. I can not believe I have only had it a week. Truth is a think I love it. Anyway enough cheese. I am having to go through the brakes in order to get her road ready. I think that I have a problem in the rear wheel cylinders and am going to need to rebuild them. I also may need some parts for the master cylinders. Anybody got any suggestions. By the way I plan to have my pictures up soon. Thank and have a great weekend Jack

Readily available NOS from the dealer, I've checked because I once thought I was going to need 'em, cheap too from what I can remember, though you have 2 each wheel which sucks, makes it add up. So call Randy in parts at Wayzata Nissan 612-475-3939

SUp Gang, I just wanted to give a update and revive this discussions to see if any of you guys are paying attention. I do want to say thanks to Jim Morrow, Alex and Dave Sherri for helping out here. But I am not out of the woods yet. However, When I am done I am goin to write a Article for you guys called: How to totally rebuild your brakes on a Nissan Patrol. At this point I have rebuild my Master cylinder with the Napa Kit list in Compatible Parts Page it seemed to work great. I have torn down the brakes and gotten a picture of everything that I need. Randy at the Nissan dealship is searching for everything availible and I have a used set of brakes for the front coming from Dave. What do I need now. I need a way to rebuild the rear wheel cylinders or another set. Also I have not brakes at all for the left side of the truck on the rear. Id anyone knows where I can egt some of this stuff. Let me know. I will make it worth their while. Anyway. Have a great weekend. Jack

As Alex mentioned, rebuild kits a available from Nissan. The only problem which you may run into is if you have a relitively new dealer and he may not have the book or microfisch for a Patrol. A patient parts clerk helps also. Gary

If you decide that you need to buy new, I'm pasting a copy of a reply to another brake job posting about 2 months ago.; ; "I just completed a brake job on my 69. I ordered my cylinders through http://www.nissanautoparts.com/; which I found on the links page. They do require the P/N's. I obtained the part numbers from the Nissan; Dealer. The cylinder part numbers are...; ; Fronts: 41111-35003 Right; 41113-35003 Left; Rear: 44100-44011; ; Ordering from the website above saves alot of money.; ; I had the shoes resurfaced locally. Cost $100. Cylinders were $250 plus shipping."; ; Hope this helps.

Typically the only thing wrong with the wheel cylinders is the cups have gone bad. I have replaced some of my cups with some rubber grommets from True Value Hardware. Not every store carries them but I will try to get sizes on them. They are less than $1.00 each and work SO much better than even the original cups did! I am also trying to fit a master cylinder from a 1978 Subaru into my Patrol. The bolt holes are the same and the proportioning valve will work great for this job! The Suby has the tires hooked together diagonally so there is an equal proportion on each set of lines as opposed to the front wheels matched together and the rear wheels matched together like a traditional American car. I have some spacers and am making the lines for it now to get it all together. I will keep you posted

Well I managed to find the internals for your rear cylinder and a new pair of rear shoes as well as new front cylinders. The cost wast about $115.00 (for the rear stuff) if I remember correctly. Call me at work on the 1-800 number and we can arrange to ship them to you. I am a little concerned as to jeepys fix using grommets from a hardware store. Is the rubber they are made of oil resistant? If it is not they will turn to mush pretty quick and would hate to rely on them if in an emergency.

I just ordered all four front cylinders from my Nissan Parts guy ($163 - could be worse I guess). He's doing a search of dead stock for the rear cylinders. I'll let you know if he finds any.; ; -Joe Wheeler
