Greeting Patrollees worldwide,

The Transformation of Punkin to Patrol P1 continues under the watchful eye of RiverPatrol. Since we last updated Steve at OC Rods and Customs is SLOWLY performing the upgrades. The following upgrades are "in process".

- Dual Reservoir Wilwood Master Brake Cylinder and lines
- Re-Arc leaf springs with a new leaf added for n approximate 2" lift
- New suspension bushings
- New Shocks
- New brake cylinders at each wheel
- Replacement steering wheel, from 70Rig
- NOS fuel sending unit
- Refurbished fuel lining
- Refurbished radiator
- New Battery
- Valve adjustment and other things I don't understand
- Rebuild VZ42 Carb, thanks Rob M.
- Replacement 16" wheels
- Seals and Fluids as needed

Once it gets to Texas, then we will finish it with new paint, seat covers and some other things. I still haven't decided whether it will be topless or not, but we have the frame if we do.

Hopefully we will get it on a transporter soon as I need to be here to receive it and that gets iffy June through mis August.

RiverPatrol has been terrific   with answers for all of Steve's questions and my last minute gyrations.

Patrolling and rolling,
L60Boerne

Thank you RiverPatrol.    Once it cools down we get er painted. We are thinking about that smokey yellow color Camel Trophy off road adventure uses for Range Rovers....which in their case makes them easier to find when they are broke down.

I've got my catcher's mitt on!

Here's some pics of the work done. When I opened the hood I busted out laughing so hard tears came to my eyes. This is what you get when you ask a custom hot rod shop to replace the generator with an alternator.

David (or River),

Can you provide the manufacturers and part numbers for the brake hoses, shocks, steering damper, and suspension bushings that were used on Punkin?

Most of that came from the Compatible Parts List - viewtopic.php?f=24&t=3381 . The shocks are the KYB, the brake hoses are the BestBrake brand, read the description Notes carefully. Same with some of the suspension bushings. Some bushings I had in stock, some came from eBay. The steering damper came from eBay.

Spring bushings: https://www.ebay.com/itm/383543835063?s ... 2749.l2649
Steering damper: https://www.ebay.com/itm/123549518514?s ... 2749.l2649

RiverPatrol,

I guess this makes me one of the luckiest Patrollers in the world! RiverPatrol did a great job.  I'm so happy. She helped out the builder almost every day with pointers on how to adjust or correctly fix the parts. Let's not forget Rob rebuilt a VZ42 carb too. Now all the important things are properly sorted. it is ready roll and patrol but it will be another year before it is finished. When it gets back here to Texas we will drive it enough to keep the fuel viable while we paint and recover the front and rear seats.

I'm pretty sure this one will stay topless though I hate to chop those door panels...but my eye just don't like the door frame. Who knows if Raul re-connects with the forum I will probably put a soft top it but that maybe two years away.

I really need a red one so I will have a red, white and blue one for the Lake City 4th parade but I only like the stressed flat red like Santa's Sleigh. I'm really leaning towards a the smokey yellow used on the Range Rovers for the Camel Trophy adventures. RiverPatrol knows my ideas are fleeting. She kept a steady course as I bounced from idea to idea during the build. Anyway, the body panels are coming off for this paint job.

Well, tomorrow is Father's Day, The day when I normally announce a new Patrol in the garage. Wish me luck, I'll need it. I'm removing everything to heavy for her to lift and all sharp objects from the house.

Thanks again to RiverPatrol, not only did she oversee this build but found a terrific and cost effective shop for the work.

Maybe this will help you decide about topless or not. With the soft top frame gone and the rear seats installed the lines are very different. Maybe just removing the window frames on the doors would suffice?

I really like the stance on this now. With the 16” wheels and re-arced springs it has gained at least 2” in height. I can’t get into it without a step stool now.

Oh, and Happy Father’s Day! :D
