That someone else is me. And I replaced my Frankenstein slave with a correct one from Patrols North, and everything is ship-shape again.

No, I have not gotten hassled about my plate because I have not had it on the road yet since I got it... yet.
Trying to get it started now and got new NGK BPR6ES plugs, what gap are people running for these plugs and what gap is best on the old waterproof distributor points?
Yeah, I wasn't sure if maybe it was some rare thing or if somebody pulled all the original badges off and replaced them with tthose. Guess I'll have to get behind the fenders and see see if they filled in the old mounting points.
