Wanted…Door Stop

Post by Slackd »

For ‘69 L60. Looking through old posts it seems Bosque was making new sets but I do not believe he is on this site now.

Thanks
Dave

The OEM door stops "suck". One good breeze at the wrong moment and they snap. Get some 1/4" or 3/16" rod and some MAPP gas. Heat one end till red hot and beat it flat with a sledge hammer. Repeat as necessary. Drill hole. Thread the other end and install a nylock nut. Much more durable and should slide well through the rocker panel opening. Maybe even make a new door mounting post.

And when making your new ones from 1/4 inch round stock, make them about 1/4 to 1/2 longer. Stock ones don't allow the door to open as far as they can. Make sure they are not too long or you could damage the a pillar body panel.... Like most patrols without the door stop....

Here's a doorstop on ebay. Smoking crack prices, but it's ORIGINAL and correct.

I purchased a pair of those about 8 years ago for $600… Included in that price was the rest of the Patrol.

Ok you guys need to stop worrying about this piece…..they are easy to make and install. Faux40 made me some and they were perfect. Of all the Patrol parts they must be the least concerning to have made.
