I am having trouble reducing the engine stamping photo enough to post it.

I don't know what platform you're using. Emailing it to yourself and selecting medium when asked what size to send it in. The email you receive has the resized picture that should work.

The image was so small already that my phone didn’t provide a choice to reduce it as it does with larger photos. So I downloaded an image reduction app and reduced it to 1000x1000.

Perfect, thanks. Looks like that might not be the original engine. That sequence is earlier, about early '68.

Here’s my frame stamping. The body and frame stamping match. Do you know for sure the engine stamping is out of sequence? Would there be a casting date on the engine block? On the american cars the casting date and stamping date are generally within 3 months. If Nissan is smililar that would help me to date the engine.

I have a parts manual that has original seat fabric samples. Do you know anyone reproducing the original gray and black upholstery waffle pattern?

Nobody knows anything 'for sure' when it comes to early Datsun numbering. This is why I have put significant effort into keeping an accurate Registry of known Patrols, because it provides us with provable consistent data. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1685 One thing that remains fairly consistent is the engine number sequence. If you look at just the engine number column you can see that it pretty reliably increases in conjunction with the ID number. Sometimes it might jump back a few hundred, but never several thousand like yours is. I am not aware of a date casting on the block myself.

Oh, on the upholstery. I do not know of anyone currently reproducing the silver/black seats. When I have had it done the upholstery shop matches it as best they can with what they can get. I do have an old original seat cover for a pattern for them to use to get the right design, and I provide pictures from brochures posted here.
