Manifold Gasket Wanted

Post by Slackd »

As I had several loose manifold bolts I’m pretty sure my manifold gasket is cooked. Any idea where I can purchase new gasket for ‘69 L60?

Thanks
Dave

Since the P engine was used in some Komatsu forklifts, you can find it at one of the stores.

I did a quick search on one link that I have saved, but using the Komatsu part number: 14035-C8001

https://www.forkliftpartssupply.com/#Pa ... sUI|454105

Product: GASKET - 14035-C8001
Manufacturer: KOMATSU
Part Number: 14035-C8001
Description: GASKET
Weight: 1.5 lbs.
Price: $25.97
In Stock

Let us know how it goes. By the way, some forklifts use the P40 engine, a slight variation of the P on our Patrols. The manifold gasket and the head gasket are the same.

Esteban, manifold gasket in hand but the Google is confusing on which side goes toward block and which side goes toward manifold. Most say smooth (composite) side to block and shiny metal side to manifold. Agree?

Beer(s) on me in a future meet-up.

Was going to respond about the beer...

Good question Dave. I'm also learning as I type. From what I recall, the original Nissan manifold gasket doesn't have differences between the sides, but since I don't have one at hand, I'm not entirely sure. The Service Manual certainly doesn't mention anything.

I'm reading on the Felpro website about the shiny metal side towards the manifold. They probably know their stuff.

Please post a picture of the installation of the gasket, so others can see. Thanks,

I second Fel-Pro. You want the metal, shiny side, to be against the manifold. The manifold expands and contracts significantly and the metal side promotes sliding on the gasket and inhibits gripping and tearing the gasket.

New gasket in. A good project for a cold, windy day. Yes, smooth composite side to engine, metal side to manifold.

Thanks for all the help, as always.
