Accident....
I am sad to report that one of my Patrols, Sandy, washit in front of my house the other day along with mySubaru. The good news is that the 16 year old kid who came flying around an icy corner doing "doughnuts"will be paying me a significant amount of $ through his insurance I hope. His 1989 Toyota 2WD truck slidsideways to hit the front left corner bumper of Sandy.Sandy's stout front bumper held steady and only budged back about 1" total (measured at corner) andprotruded into the cab of the Toyota ripping the passenger side door off of it's hinges, blowing outthe door window on the Toyota and eventually tearing the seat on the Toyota. Sandy faired well for the basic total destruction of the passenger side of theToyota truck. The unfortunate part comes in when Sandy rolled backwards over the 6X6 block behind a wheel (the E-brake does not work yet) and may havedone damage to the tranny since she was parked in1st gear. When it rolled back the 6' or so it hitmy Subaru with the rear tire rack and damaged thefront hood and frame support that holds the radiator. The grill and headlights are all out of wack nowon the Subaru. Sandy's rear tire rack is now bentdown slightly. OOPS! Anyways, I took some picsand they will be posted soon!-Jeffjeepcj_6@yahoo.co

Accident....
OUCH!
That is just one more reason why teenagers should not have driver's licenses! I hate to hear of any Patrol incurring and kind of damage. Did I ever tell you about my parking lot ding? We parked in front of DQ and were sitting on the bumper to watch out for my Patrol, and some guy pulls into the spot next to us crooked and his daughter gets out of the back and slams her door into my Patrol. The guy shruggs his shoulders and says "Sorry" and walks away! There is a smal dent there and the paint is gone (this is where I have some all metal filler on my rear driver's fender). I wait for him to come back to ask for his insurance info, he said "You've got to be kidding me, right?" and I said no, and he said "Well how long did you think it would take before something like that happened?" He refused to give me his name or information, we took his license plate # but I subsequently lost it and could nothing. We later found out who he was because his kids go to school with our kids, but by then I hadn't documented the date and I never did get an estimate on repairing the ding, so I left it alone. It is not that much damage was done, it was the principal of the thing and the guys attitude! I hope the kid that hit yours gets what is coming to him! (I am just the childish vindictive type)

I am also sad to report that the kid who hit it nowis unwilling to work with the insurance company andI will now have to sue him. I do have to admit that a little damage on a vehicle that is not perfect tobegin with adds character. I think of it as a "battle scar" now. My truck won the war againstthe Toyota! Dings certainly suck though. I would have sued him...

Hey man that really blows. How can the kid get away without paying up? Glad to see your patrol wasn't hurt that bad. Hey arn't you the one that posted those picks of the junkyard patrol? I would really like to know where that thing is located. It looked like it had alot of good body parts on it including a top. Seems to me somebody was looking for a top around here. Anyhow, good luck with getting that kid to pay up.

That doesn't sound too good. But it is great to hear the partol kept its shape. I am only 16 myself and feel that I am a pretty good driver. However I agree that some teenage drivers shouldn't be alowed to drive at all. On the way to school about a month ago, a kid I went to school with happened to fall asleep at the wheel. He drifted out of his lane and smashed into my 67 patrol. Luckily he was driving a 4 door nissan sentra and he didn't pack enough punch to do any serious damage to me. He cracked the driver and passenger windows just from rattling them. and he put a little crease on my left front wheel well. On the flip side his passenger side mirror was crushed, and a huge crease from my front hub ran the whole distance of his car. Etimated damage to my car- $1,136 Including labor and paint. Damage to his car- exceeds $5,000 In the end all is well and the little battle scar my patrol endured wasn't nearly enough to put it out of comission. -Drew

I am fully convinced that my Patrol is safe and sturdy. I hated to see it get hit though. I hope to have the pics up in a couple days for it.I am working things out with the insurance company. They are being real buttheads and this kid is beingeven more stubborn. I wonder if he has heard of"lawsuit"? I expect to get at least $1,300 for the2 cars of mine he hit. To answer another question, the Junkyard Patrol is located outside of Durango, CO.I looked it over and there is no running gear at all.Everything under the hood is gone. The fenders arestraight but rotted. The top is in good shape. Thatis about it. The interior is also completely gone. They will charge an arm and a leg for any parts thatthey sell. I have several Patrol's that I am partingout and one of them has a top...
