Patrol imports

Just to introduce myself, I own a '92 Pathfinder and love to go off-roading. I've never seen a Patrol in the US, but think it might be fun to get one. Recently, I was in the UK and took a look at a LWB '98 Patrol. My question is this. Has anyone thought about getting together to have some imported to the US? I have contacted a few registered importers and it is possible. If more people then me were involved, it might be easier and more cost effective. My dream vehicle would be a newer Patrol, but we who live in North America are just shut out. We all know how awesome these vehicles are, but listen to this: the one I saw in England had a manual transmission, 6-CD stereo, digital compass and thermometer, dual airbags, rear locker, switchable rear stabilizer, third row seats, reinforced doors, and it was the equivalent of $25,000! It also was a diesel and got 25 mpg. Is there any interest in trying to get some imported to and modified for the US?
