I have used http://www.zepco.com/Index.asp to make a cable for my 240Z...I wanted the retain the original sheathing.

Thank you to everyone. RiverPatrol and dipped into her vast parts crypt to show us the real issue. Then Plateaucal comes up with a few intellectual options which I will pursue if River eyeballs the connections from Zed's Toyota option to confirm there is chance they work. Then if I had the specs on both connections I'd be glad to have that cable company Plateaucal found make up five early speedo cables.

On the bright side I drove Santa"s Sleigh all weekend near Llano. We only got stuck once in a creek that was a bit deeper that expected. Winched out.

It occurred to me I could rob a cable and speedo from Santa's Sleigh for the white 63 then put the Columbian Km/h set up in Santa's Sleigh.

I actually got a new speedo cable for an old 240z that fit perfect for my '65. I'll scrounge around for the part number and get back with you.

NAPA had one. Made in Japan.

Thank you, For now I'm swapping the much better one out of my 65 Santa's Sleigh into the 63 this weekend. Then put the more worn cable back into 65 when I return to TX.

Still additional sources like you found are needed. Your efforts are not wasted.

Per this thread I was in need of a pre 65 speedo cable. The pre 65 cable has a male end at the transfer case and female end at the speedometer. Later ones have two females, which are easy to find. I already had a new post 65 cable in stock and will put it on the 66 Phoenix Patrol when needed.

RiverPatrol confirmed the pre 65 cable was going to be hard to find so I did two things:
a). A friend pulled the cable from my 65 Santa's Sleigh from our hunting ranch as it is a low use Patrol and I took it with me to Lake City
b). I bought from Indonesia a speedometer with cable for $280.00 and had it sent to Rene in Lake City. Though the speedometer read in kilometers/hr. The description indicated it was suitable for the pre 65 Patrol. So it was worth a shot.

So last week I dropped off my 63 CCV5 (Command and Control Vehicle 5) with Rene in Lake City with Santa's Sleigh cable in the passenger's seat for the swap.

When I picked it up Rene said he didn't need the cable from Santa's Sleigh as the new cable from Indonesia fit perfectly! So the point of this post is that there might be more surface from Indonesia.

I remember seeing gauges on Ebay from overseas somewhere in that area but I think it was both gauges and the combo gauge was the later style with the push on connectors. The speedo had a weird looking push type commector or maybe internal threads. I will have go back and try to find it, it might have been for a much later G60.

Also I have ordered a speedo cable from NAPA or a datsun 520/521, the length of theirs showed as 70 inches. the older style cable that was in my 1967 is 69 inches long. I bought a used one first that was taken from a patrol but it came in and was only 60 inches long. the other parts stores showed the datsun 520 cable at about 62 inches so that one might have been a replacement, it certainly was not original. The NAPA speedo cable was only $17 so worth a try and it looks correct on the ends to me.

OK, If that NAPA cable works it would be a great find. It is all about the ends which is determined by the model year.

Yes, there were two recent opportunities on ebay for vintage Patrol gauges. Indonesia was the source for both. The $780 two gauge bundle buy is still available. No cable. They are new and expensive...but new...but not American as they read in Euro standard gibberish the tower of babel can't even decipher. But in my case the speedo cable fit so if anyone understands and prefers gibberish I have new speedo gauge for them.

Reviving an old thread here as I just went through a hunt for a speedometer cable for my 1969. Not sure if the '69 is a change year, but my cable needs to be female at transfer case and male at the speedo. As far as I know my '69 gage cluster is all original, but honestly who knows.

I wanted to share that I have found the correct speedometer cable for this cluster I have if any one is curious. See pictures for the part number and back of my speedometer. I ordered that number from autozone, but I think it's available from several retailers.
