Timing Gears and associated parts.

Post by DatsunDave »

I have searched and there are discussions here about the differences between the P and the P40 timing parts but I haven't actually found any info on timing set parts for the P.

I am on the verge of an engine rebuild but if I can't get timing gears and associated parts it seems like a rebuilt isn't possible.

Any advice?

The P motor is gear to gear so normally, no replacement is required. If the aluminum gear attached to can shaft is damaged, there are members on this site who have spare parts.

So, it is used parts (which is fine of they are good) or nothing. Correct?

Correct.

The gears will probably be fine. I’ve had Patrols with over 100k at a rebuild, and the gears were fine. My current engine, has two rebuilds done and the gears were not changed.

When the tim comes, please post some pictures of them.

But, engines rotate differently South of the equator...right. So would the parts work, but only in reverse?

How? Their drop down list for years doesn’t go old enough. Hmmm?

Just use the part number in the search box. You can find that in the parts manual that you can download from the forum.
