Sounds like fun! What happened to the warm cabin with the well stocked liquor cabinet and the best view in Western Colorado? I am good either way. Originally, I was just planning on bringing up my truck camper and staying in your driveway.

I predict yellow trees and cool mountain air. Our troop will succeed, with minor injuries to man or machine. If the gods favor us, we will not need tire chains, but I may bring some anyway. It is on my calendar.

The Jon Wilson Memorial Yurt is booked for the night of Sept 30th, see at www.hinsdalehauteroute.com. It easily sleeps six. Their website for booking isn't working but I spoke to the office by phone.
We have room and an extra Patrols if anyone wants to come up.

Re: Engineer's Pass Ascent Oct 12-15, 2020
Greetings Patrollers Worldwide,
Plateucal and yours truly reached two summits on 10-1-2020 attaining sustained and perfect operation climbing to 13,000 ft +. Command and Control Vehicle 5 (CCV5) and Phoenix Patrol performed flawlessly at altitude. Plateucal piloted Phoenix Patrol with the Rochester B Carb while CCV5 uses the VZ 42. The Rochester performed better above 10,000 ft than below. Regardless, it will replaced this winter with a VZ 42.
I can say the Nissan Patrols were appreciated by almost every other group on the mountain with many smiles, thumbs up, that is cool and "it's a what". With side windows passing about 12-15" apart if a pass can even be made you get to say hello during the pass.
I will upload the pictures and they will be in the next post.
October is the perfect time for the ascent and we hope to have a bigger group next year.

Greetings Patrollers Worldwide,
Just a note to say I have submitted my article for Overland Journal. It may or maynot ever make it into print as many factors must align...but we will just have to see. I will try to figure out how to upload it here today.

RiverPatrol,
You were there...in spirit.
Everyone who has helped me is always with me. As I patrol I look at the parts and think of who sent them and how thankful I am for getting them. Those Patrols are loaded down with far memories than anything else.
I'm pretty sure the #1 use for these these old Patrols is to hold memories.
Patrolling in CCV5 again today.
