This truck is looking BOMBER.... I love everything you are doing.

Excellent example of how "100% stock/original" is not always necessary to achieve a fantastic, period correct look and experience, along with the quality and reliability of brand new components.

I came back to this thread a few weeks back to read your wire harness posts when I was debating about how to wire up my blue 66 - I had a complete original wire harness, but those Painless kits make it so nice... In the end, I decided to re-use the original on mine, but the experience of re-installing it on the truck convinced me that when I go back to the rebuild project on my 65 hardtop, I'm going Painless all the way...

Now you got me thinking about bedliner in the 65's tub, too... I wonder if I could find that stuff in the original dark gray color...?????

(Yes, I have some touchup to do - the electric fuel pump worked too well and stripped my paint off overnight...)

Not sure if you were asking about the electric fuel pump or the electric parking brake - I had one of each on there at one time. Unfortunately, the previous owner had installed them, so I don't have any recommendations for you.

Thanks for the compliments! I've really tried to walk the line between period look but use modern components here and there. I think that unless you're a purist or really want to enter concours type shows, then nobody really cares about what's hidden under panels and stuff - it's the look that everyone appreciates. And most everyone appreciates electronics that won't burn up, or a car that will stop, etc, etc, more than they do "original" when it comes down to it.

Looks like you found the answer to the bedliner. Super easy to spray in. As with any paint job - it's all about the prep work, so just get down to bare metal or at least the original primer, and you should be good. Just don't let the spray gun get too close- unlike paint, you can't just sand and re-spray. And removing it is a huge pain.... I taped with just normal blue tape and peeled it back off within 15 mins of spraying, and it all came out great. I'd definitely do it again.

Just a short update - saying there's no updates. I've had.... several major life changes recently, so the Patrol project has been put on hold for a couple months. It's a shame, too, since I'm 98% done with things. When things settle down again, I'll have a chance to finish things up and post here.

Yep, you do great work. Really great. Quick question..in your parts search did you wind up with an extra dash mounted map light correct for my 66 Phoenix Patrol? If you did, I sure would be glad to buy it from you.

Thanks for the compliment! The only map light I came across during the whole rebuild was the one that came in it originally... and I treated the glass for it like it was made of unobtainium... Sorry- I'd be happy to give it to you if I had one.

I understand and I would really like to finish out my Phoenix Patrol in a blue with a bed that looks likes yours. However, I must be realistic. Mine only look good for one day...then they go on the trail and the luster fades as quickly as the smoke from my exhaust.
