Frame rail cleaning

I recently discovered that my patrol needs some frame work and am taking it apart down to the frame. Is this an undertaking that can be done or is it a lost cause. The frame rails have alot of diet in them which I can see in the holes on the rails . How do I go about getting all this out? Should I cut access holes in the frame? How does everyone go about it? I bought the patrol a few years ago and likley got up sold on it but would still like to get it running one day and on the road. It's will never be a show truck and likley a long time project but I would like to try and preserve it

The frame has access holes that can be used to clear the dirt and debris out. High pressure air or even water can be sprayed into the access holes. A long solid rod can be used to loosen anything that needs persuasion to be removed.
And yes, you can take a patrol down to a bare frame. Frame repair is much easier if it is exposed where you can actually perform the repairs. I was able to replace my cross member on the patrol i am restoring (Montana Patrol).
