1965 stock 16 inch patrol steel wheel

hi im looking for an oem 16 inch wheel to complete my set on a 65 patrol.not the split rim.any help would be appreciated.zubby

Where the split rim the original or was there an option?

The split rim was original starting in '66. They are a 15" rim. Before that they were a solid 16" rim. Then sometime in the early 70's they went to a split 16" rim.

RiverPatrol, I watched the video at full 18 minute length, plus a hillbilly one too. I can't imagine any benefit to a split rim...but because I a very kind Mr. Flaggoni, aka Bill Flagg sent me one in mint shape ...I felt compelled to mount it for my spare for CCV5 I paid $50 to have it mounted. After watching the videos i'm surprised I wasn't charged $300.

both of the patrols I have still have split rims on them. I plan to keep them and use them on the green 1967. The red(ish) 1969 will most likely get modern rims put on it.

I watched it also, certainly entertaining. He did go about it the hard way. When I have had mine done they have the tire machines which takes them about 5 minutes to do what he did plus remounting the tire. And what he did isn't the dangerous part! It's when the tire is remounted, lock ring back in place and air is being put in the tire that is dangerous. This is because if that ring isn't perfectly back in place, when the bead of the tire pops into place it can send that lock ring shooting out at a very high rate of speed. Tire shops that work on these have a cage made of 2" steel tube to put these in while they are airing them up. Even then the guy backs off from the cage while its airing. I have heard of people doing it themselves by wrapping a couple lengths of chain around the tire and locking it on before airing it up.
