I have called Motor Power Inc. and they do not supply gaskets and they suggested calling forklift repair companies which i tried and they only sell complete gaskets which are $200 and up.

I know that many modern cars simply use silicone for the pan gasket... most don't leak either! I'm just not sure how tight to secure the bolts without a gasket... The same torque as with a gasket?

Of course, rolls of gasket material are pretty cheap. Some raw material and a little quality time with an exacto knife and voilà! The perfect oil pan gasket.

I'm just not sure how tight to secure the bolts without a gasket... The same torque as with a gasket?

If you want to seal the oil pan (or timing cover, or side cover, or valve cover) using pure silicone, then the best technique I've found is to put a generous bead of silicone around the oil pan (looping it around each bolt hole) then do one of the following:

1) If the engine is on a stand, then invert it so the oil pan is on top, and place the pan on the engine. Feed the bolts through their holes, and give each bolt 1/2 to 1 full turn.... then walk away from it for 24 hours. Come back the next day, and gradually snug the bolts down (10-15 ft/lbs max- or, "finger tight" plus 1/2 turn)

2) if the engine is in the truck, then after applying the silicone, place the pan beneath the engine, and set the 4 corner bolts- Again, give them each 1/2 - 1 full turn. then go around and set the rest of the bolts the same way. After all the bolts are in place, go back and slowly twist in the 4 corner bolts, just until there is no air gap between the silicone and the engine sealing flange (don't tighten them- just get them to the point that the silicone fills the entire gap between the pan and the engine). Then, once again - go do something else for 24 hours. Come back the next day, and gradually snug all the bolts down (again - 10-15 ft/lbs max)

This technique, performed correctly, can actually seal better, and last longer, than cork gaskets ...
