Patrol Whisperers,

Now that I've spent some time recovering Presidio Patrol a few questions have surfaced. This pic is of the throttle assembly near the exhaust manifold. I am wondering what OEM part is missing that the long vertically oriented spring replaces? That field fix is unacceptable so please send me in the right direction.
Any help would be appreciated.

The thick bolt on the left, that serves as a pivot point, has a spring wrapped around. This is the only spring needed. Probably has relaxed a little bit or is not attached properly, and they decided to add the long spring.

I'm away from mine at the moment to get a picture that will show the above better than words.

Thank you Esteban, I would appreciate a picture and any advice as to where I might find a replacement for the aged spring.

As we try to re-assemble Presidio Patrol it finally occurred to me last night why we don't have have but a fraction of the nuts and bolts when pictures at purchase clearly show them in place. Like the lights that were destroyed during the removal they must have thrown away all the screws they striped during disassembly.

Therefore, If anyone has any of the SS phillips head screws used for attaching the dash panel I sure would be glad to buy them. For now, I will rob some from The Green Machine. NAPA in SA can't source any from any of their major suppliers. I will have some made if necessary but for now I could sure use 4 of those screws. I've asked NAPA for a technical description so I could try to run them down as well. Ron L. Is asking Copper State Nut & Bolts. I'd buy and Fed Ex them today my shop today if anyone has a source.

I might have some of those screws laying around, so I'll look for them. If I do, I'll send them to you free. I think you need some good news now, even as little as these screws.

Years ago, while I was still in Ecuador, I switched to Allen head type ones, as a way to deter somebody breaking into my car and stealing the radio . It's been like that for over 20 years, so I don't see me going to the others anytime soon.

Thank you Esteban, Many good things have happened along the way. Plus, if either vehicle would have been in my garage a lot of the late breaking news would have been discovered earlier. I will say that this forum is a wonderful resource and source for enthusiasm to keep the faith.

When I will get both up and running I will post my spares; i know I will have a heater system or two, new dual reservoir brake MC, back bench seats, Petronix Coil, hardtop, sideview mirrors which I think are original, generator to name a few.

All the nuts and bolts can be sourced from a bolt and screw store like Ace Bolt or from offline. I believe I have extras of most bolts and screws that I replaced during my rebuild. I will look when I get home in about a week and I can either tell you what the sizes are or I can send you my extras. But it will be at least a week till I can get to put hands on any of it.

Thanks Wade, the final mechanical starts at noon tomorrow and hope to have everything done including the bumper by Monday Eve.

Rafael pulled the following from the 63 so Monday I will go into SA to find these.

Windshield Hinge Bolts: SAE 5/16"x24x3/4 hexhead, fine thread with lock washer

Dash Screws: SAE 1/4" x 28 x 3/8" bevelled SS Phillipshead

Front Seat Mounting Bracket Bolts: SAE Bolt 1/4" x 28 x 1/2" with flat and locking washer

Let me tell you it is much harder to reassemble a vehicle you have never seen from parts given to you in 5 gallon buckets half filled with water.

Lastly, that thermostat recirculation hose I ordered from Australia from advice from Gmicheal is a real nice fit. Very little kinking! Thanks GMicheal!
