The later roof top sections have rounded corners where as the earlier ones have a sharper edge when going back towards the rear5078
This is my 68-69 . The earlier tops rear section is vertical above the barn doors and the bends over in nearly a 90 degree hard bend.
The tops are interchangeable. 2501276
The blue vehicle shows the sharper rear roof edge.
The red one is a 66 With a 69 roof....

The bolt holes probably won't line up. You'll have to drill new ones.

Thanks for the info. I got the hard top from the dude. My wife is excited it will be taking her car's spot in the garage until I get it media blasted. The dude is selling the rest of the vehicle as one piece. I put some info in the classified section.

Rathouse wouldn't start yesterday so I threw the charger on it, try today same deal. On closer inspection the plastic clamp on the positive terminal has split. Any one have a line on those, or am I stuck going to a standard terminal?

You're better off going with a standard terminal. That's what they came with.

Does anybody has the measurements for the seal at the bottom of the steering gear box?

Today I went to work in my Patrol, and after returning found a good puddle of heavy oil inside the garage at the spot where I always park. The pitman arm is covered in oil. All this has taken place since last week.

I don't think it will be difficult to source an aftermarket seal, but will need the measurements. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Esteban, I have a junk steering box in my garage - after work today, I'll try to get it torn down and get that seal measurement (and any numbers) off of it...

Thanks a lot Robert!!

Is your steering box junk, or just something you're not going to use?

One of the worries I have is that there's some wear of my box, and if I start tearing it apart I will open a can of worms. Hope it's only a seal issue. Will try to test some movement of the sector shaft with my micrometer dial and the magnetic base.

The seal for the steering box is part # 48137-44000. Measurements are 32 x 45 x 8 mm. Found the measurements doing a cross reference, but they have been hand written in the 1978 Service Manual by Pancho, who originally scanned it.

Yesterday I did some measurements of lateral movement of the "sector shaft" with a micrometer dial mounted on the magnetic base, and prying the shaft with a crowbar. Only about 0.003" inches, which is nothing and way beyond what the manual calls for replacing the bushings that are in that part, when the wear has surpassed 0.011".

So I ordered a seal and call it good. I don't want to open a can of worms.

The one I ordered is 7mm in thickness, since that's what I found on eBay yesterday. By checking at the store site of the seller, I found the 8mm ones. However, I will stick with the 7mm since the shaft could have developed a groove.

This site has an amazing variety of seals and O-rings. If someone could take measurements at the speedometer shaft seal will be wonderful. All Patrols tend to leak at this seal.
