I'm looking to replace the gasket material between the body panels, but I have no idea what I'm looking for. I realize I may be able to source this, but I'm fine with just cutting out something that would work.
What kind of material do I need? I searched on amazon for rubber gasket material, but I was overwhelmed with choices. Is there some handy guide for this kind of stuff?

Look in the yellow pages......whoops, showing my age........look on google for 'gasket suppliers' or 'gasket material suppliers' in your area. They will have a large selection of material, including rubber with fabric reinforcement which I really like for fender seals/gaskets on my Studebakers. For really thick things (body mount pads for example) conveyor belting works good. Take whatever pieces you have with you and let them look at them. They should have 'scraps' that they will sell you for next to nothing (or maybe even give to you if they are car guys 
). The material can be cut with a variety of things - scissors, utility knife, sabre saw, shears, bandsaw, etc, depending on how thick it is. I believe Harbor Freight sells cheap gasket hole punch sets to put the holes in, or you can sharpen the end of a piece of pipe the correct size. I've used copper pipe scraps to make hole punches. For really small holes, if you have one of those $4.99 socket sets you can sharpen the end of a small socket and use it as a hole punch. (Those cheap socket sets are good for making special tools, pressing things out with a vise, etc.)

Datsunlandsocal.com has them but his site seems to be down and has been for some time. Not sure what is going on there.
