Salvageable parts

Post by mattmctree@gmail.com »

I'm wondering what parts I can pull off a 69 parts truck that will be compatable with a 65 that I have?

Most parts in the engine compartment, other than the alternator, wiring harness, fuse block and a few other things. Otherwise, almost everything else is slightly different. The seats are different, dash, gas tank, ignition switch, wiper motors, turn signal switch, etc, etc. The diffs are the same, and the transmission and transfer case would interchange even though there are some internal differences.
Beyond any hope for intervention

Let me expand a bit RiverPatrol comments:

The front axle is slightly different, but totally interchangeable. Some components are exactly the same.

The rear axle is basically the same, with the only minor difference being the thread direction on one of the locking nuts for the wheel bearing. Can't recall which one. If you change a complete left axle for instance, it's a direct fit on the old axle.

The engine is the same. The transmission is the same with minute changes in a couple of bearings but same basic components. Transfer case is basically the same. Totally interchangeable.

Suspension components and steering linkage are the same.
