Got rust? Seats, panels, doors, windows, etc. The old messages from the NPCA 'Body & Interior' category are here.

Rear Seat Belts?

Post by Marshall »

Has anyone installed rear seat belts? I'd like to add two per bench seat for my son and his friends. If you've added seat belts to your Patrol, what was your solution for secure location to bolt them in?

For the outer belts connection I thought I'd just use one of the three bolts used on the seat hinge, as it's got another support plate underneath.

For the inner belt locations, here's two ideas I had.

1) Use this center bracket for the middle belt locations. One will be slightly higher than the other to fit both. My question is, is this bracket strong enough in the event of impact?

2) Fabricate a plate that runs the distance of the bench. Put this against the body and under the seat hinges, then put seat hinge bolts on top of this plate. Use same seat hinge bolt for outer belts, and inner locations would be under the seat, through this plate and body.
