Aftermarket LED's for early round marker and taillights

I just wanted to share some aftermarket LED marker lamps I found; which I think make a pretty good match for the early style, glass Everwing lamps:

here is a side by side (original glass on right, LED on left:



There is a rubber gasket you can get with the LED lamp, and it requires a little trimming to center the lamp in the Patrol's chrome bezel, but once it's in place, I think it looks pretty good... Here is another side by side, only this time the aftermarket light is in the housing, and the original glass lense is to the right:



and here is another shot, along with the later-style Koito plastic Patrol lamp as well, so you can compare all three:



Lastly- a shot of it in profile, next to the Koito plastic lamp so you can see that the dome sticks out just about the right amount to look close to original




And the best part- They come in both amber and red:



Since my 65 Hardtop is being built as a driver, I'm thinking about using these LED's on it... They come only as single circuit running lamps, but I also found some cool pigtails online that I can use to convert these from single-circuit, into dual circuit lamps, so that you can have fixed lights, and flashers...

I'm sure you know this as you are the god of patrol cool... But, don't forget that as LEDs draw much, much less current, there's a good chance that your blinker relay won't work correctly. They require lots of juice to work so that's why sometimes when you have an out bulb, your blinkers won't flash. You'll need to upgrade that to a modern relay (plug in replacement).

Yup, good point - I was planning to shop for a solid state flasher that would work with these...

Or, just break out my 30 year old Ohm's law notes from "DC current 101"; and figure out how big a shunt I would need to add to increase the current draw from the flasher...

These are the lenses i use on my Patrol, just need to apply some black silicone to hold them into place. Now of course these are not LED, these are just replacement lenses.

One other point I should add- you will still need an original baseplate to bolt to the truck (the one that has the 3 clips around the edge that hold the chrome trim ring on) - you will be able to run the wires from the LEDs through the center of the baseplate, then screw the base plate onto the Patrol, then snap the chrome trim ring on to hold everything together..
